_NLP enables different ways of thinking, perceiving and behaving.
Have you ever thought,
"If only I could be more motivated, energetic, confident, persistent, patient, sensitive or open"?
Or
"If only I could be less sensitive to criticism, anxious, bad tempered, impatient, emotional"
Have you ever wondered why sometimes people can be ..
uncooperative, frustrating, their own worst enemy, selfish?
The founders of Neuro Linguistic Programming, together with many others over the last 30 years have developed techniques, models, and methods to-
The sites purpose is to go beyond the techniques (the hows). To answer for example
- Become more of the person you have always wanted to be.
- Find joy in everyday tasks and events.
- Achieve important outcomes in the most effective way.
- Be able to learn to do just about anything someone else does well (including skills thought to be innate such as "talents").
- Become your own best friend.
- Be able to persuade and influence others.
- Develop and maintain quality relationships.

- What's in it for me?
- What can I do when the boss acts like a jerk?
- How can I get myself to cooperate?
- What's the best thing to use for this problem?
- What does this jargon mean?
- Why do I need to know about this model?
- When should I use a particular method rather than a different one?
- What's behind the ideas, techniques and processes?
What is Conversational Hypnosis?
Conversational hypnosis ...all conversation is hypnosis. From the time we are babies, other humans hypnotize us.
What does it mean to be hypnotized by someone? We tend to picture some slick man directly gazing at us and willing us to "go into trance".. watch the watch and when you hear me count to 1 you will fall into a trance and do my bidding. You will be under my spell.
The Hollywood version of course is much more interesting than the reality.

What is Trance?
We go into trance dozens of times a day
- Tuning out the kids when they prattle on about something that happened at school
- Losing track of time
- Driving and not knowing how we got to our destination
- Walking into a room and forgetting why we are there
- Losing our train of thought in the middle of a conversation
Conscious and Unconscious Control:
Trance is when we connect to our other than conscious minds. Dreaming is trance, any activity we do on automatic pilot shows our unconscious mind is in control. All our automatic body functions like breathing digesting, food falling asleep are controlled unconsciously. Try consciously digesting your last meal - go ahead, I'll wait.
Young children spend much of their time in trance. That is they mostly act unconsciously.
Given that hypnosis is natural, it makes sense that anything that causes us to go inside or connect something (a word for instance) with a memory is hypnosis. The unconscious mind operates with different rules from the conscious mind.
Conscious thought is linear and rational. If I do X, I get Y. This causes that, this action creates this result.

Performance Anxiety
Imagine walking across an 8 inch (20cms) wide plank 100 feet (30 meters) above the ground. You look down and the tiny people stare back from the hard concrete surface. Your stomach shrivels in fear - the consequences of slipping are huge.
Now imagine walking across the same plank 1 foot off the ground. How much easier would it be to do? Why is that? It's the same plank.
What typically happens when something is important is performance anxiety. We want the job so badly that our conscious mind takes control. We rehearse possible interview questions and try really hard to say all the right things, rather than paying attention to what's going on in front of us. And that very "trying" messes it up for us.

Eliciting States
With poetry, music and stories the purpose is to elicit. If I say pterodactyl, brontosaurus and Stonehenge, it elicits a sense of the ancient past, a previous age, a time at least before skyscrapers and helicopters.
If I talk about dark, slimy tombstones with vampire bats and gruesome gargoyles your mind is likely to go somewhere different than if I mention lilacs, sunny wildflower covered rolling hills and a cool stream.
If you own a restaurant and advertise that your steaks are as big as toilet seats, you may not get many customers. (Thanks to Moe from "The Simpsons" for that one)
Our language - our conversations can elicit powerful states in others for good and bad. If we want someone to feel open and friendly, it's not a good idea to be confrontational in our words or body language. If we want someone to be closed and defensive, we should avoid giving them a sense of fun and safety.
If I command you to "move yourself right now!" your body will react - either by complying or resisting. What it probably won't do is relax.
When you want to influence someone to give you what you want - a job, a date, a contract or a discount, knowing conversational hypnosis gives you some control over the process. When you change the person's state, you control the interaction.
